shotmaker
A golf game for iPhone and iPad

every shot is yours

Your swipe is your swing. Bring your handicap down, compete in tournaments and climb the world rankings.

There's no power bar to stop and no dice rolled behind the scenes. You swing with one finger, and the ball goes where your swing sends it. The great shots are yours, and so are the shanks.

Nothing is left to chance

Most golf games quietly decide how good your shot was. Shotmaker doesn't. There isn't a random number anywhere in it, so the same swing hits the same shot every time, on every phone. Hook one into the gorse and you'll know exactly why.

Speed

Swing faster to hit it further. Ease off to take a little off and float it in.

Line

Swing across the ball to draw it round a dogleg or hold a fade up into the wind.

Rhythm

Stay smooth through the ball and it comes off the middle. Snatch at it and it won't.

So you really do get better

Because nothing is luck, practice works the way it does on a real range. You'll start off hitting it short and crooked. Keep at it and your shots land closer together, your handicap comes down, and the Stats page shows you where the strokes went. The game runs from a 28 handicap all the way to plus 5, so there's a long road ahead.

Every handicap round is played in the same fixed conditions for everyone, and nothing in the settings can make it easier. When your handicap falls, you earned it.

How good can you get?

Everyone plays the same courses in the same conditions, on every phone, so the boards are an honest ranking of who plays Shotmaker best. Sign in to Game Center and start climbing.

Tournaments

There's a new tournament every week, free for everyone: four rounds on one course, with a cut in every handicap band after the first two. Each season ends in a major.

World rankings

Every tournament earns world ranking points, and a major earns double. Watch your name climb the table, round by round.

Leaderboards

See the best rounds on every course this week, this month and of all time, against the world and against golfers of your own standard.

There's a daily challenge too: one hole, the same for everyone, with one attempt that counts. And when a friend reckons they're better than you, set up a match and settle it.

Five courses to play it on

Two are free for ever
The 18th at Larchmere from a raised tee, a striped fairway between old woods with a lake to the left.
Free for ever

larchmere

A parkland classic of rolling fairways, still lakes and old woods. Larchmere is where every player starts, and it rewards a well-placed drive more than a long one. Trees play exactly as they are drawn, and the lakes catch anything careless.

Signature holes
3ParNarrow Water
3ParThe Island
3ParThe Thimble
The 3rd green at Dunmarra Links, with pot bunkers short of it, the dunes behind and the sea beyond.
Free for ever

dunmarra links

A wild seaside links on a bright, breezy afternoon. Firm, fast turf runs over old dunes, deep pot bunkers hide from the tee and gorse waits beside the landing areas. The wind and the ground decide the shot, so the ball has to be kept low and allowed to run.

Signature holes
3ParThe Stamp
3ParSeawall
5ParTwice Burn
The 16th at Cormorant Point, a carry from the clifftop over the ocean to a green ringed with white bunkers.
In the Club

cormorant point

Three landscapes in one round. Cormorant Point starts in a forest of tall dark pines, breaks out over white dunes and ice plant, then runs along the clifftops above turquoise coves. Its white bunkers are torn into capes and bays, and on the run home the ball is carried over the ocean itself.

Signature holes
5ParLong Pines
3ParThe Ledge
3ParThe Chasm
The 13th green at Cinder Mesa on the canyon floor, below a wall of red sandstone.
In the Club

cinder mesa

A clear morning in red-rock desert. Emerald fairways run as ribbons through red sand and sagebrush, past sandstone domes and across a field of black lava. The last holes drop through canyons to a creek below the clubhouse. The air is still, so this is target golf where only the carry counts.

Signature holes
3ParThe Kiln
5ParStepping Stones
3ParFreefall
The 18th at Glacier Falls, a striped green below dark spruce and snow-capped limestone peaks.
New to the Club

glacier falls

A summer's day in a mountain valley. Striped fairways roll between walls of dark spruce, a milky turquoise river runs beside them, and limestone peaks fill the sky. Some tees stand high on forest benches so the drive drops to the valley floor, and the round ends under a timber-and-stone lodge beside a falling stream.

Signature holes
3ParThe Cauldron
5ParGlacier Run
4ParThe Falls

A practice ground

There's a range with target greens, plus putting, chipping and pitching practice.
